Commercial Refrigeration Repair - tips
Commercial refrigeration repair tips
The commercial walk-in cooler or commercial walk-in freezer is an essential part of your business. Here are some tips on maintaining your commercial refrigeration equipment. Commercial refrigerator space & Commercial refrigerator shell Care should be taken when placing items inside the space. If the space is overcrowded with items, or items are placed in front of the evaporator fans, the circulation of air is greatly reduced along with the performance of the commercial refrigeration system. The commercial refrigeration shell of the walk in cooler or walk in freezer should be inspected regularly for leaks and loose insulation or panels. Leaks can cause excess moisture to accumulate (See the section on Evaporators). The walk in cooler door is also a key component of the commercial refrigerator. Doors must be sealed to eliminate air infiltration, which may cause moisture buildup on the evaporator. Frost buildup on the door itself is a common occurrence and has a tendency to either freeze the door shut or keep it from closing. Commercial Refrigeration Maintenance Helps Avoid Energy Waste & Unnecessary Repairs Commercial refrigeration repair issues should be addressed immediately to avoid excessive energy use and costly repairs, as well as potential product loss. Walk in Cooler repairs and MaintenanceWalk in cooler - evaporators
Stalactites and stalagmites of ice appearing in your Commercial Refrigerator or Commercial freezer are reason for swift repair service to avoid costly damage. Moisture from the air freezes onto the evaporator coils (the cooling coils in the freezer, not the outside unit). This ice buildup forms an insulating barrier to heat transfer. Next, airflow decreases as the air passages narrow due to ice buildup. Evaporators have a defrost cycle to melt ice that has built up . Melted ice then should drain from the freezer. In evaporator units, if the ice isn’t melted, or the water isn’t properly drained, this could result in a block of ice taking over the evaporator. When the evaporator coil freezes, heat transfer is greatly reduced resulting in the compressor working harder and longer, running up your electricity bill. When ice buildup is excessive, the compressor will run all the time and the freezer temperature will not be maintained where it needs to be. As the ice melts, the water has to drain out of the freezer. Water that freezes in the drain line can do significant structural damage to a freezer. If you see stalactites and/or stalagmites of ice appearing, call us immediately to prevent expensive food inventory loss. Walk in cooler condensers - Restaurant refrigeration condensers The condenser coil of the commercial refrigeration system removes heat from the walk in cooler area, and dumps the heat outdoors. Condenser coils are located outside your business. Condenser coils should be checked regularly for cleanliness. Dust and debris on outdoor condenser units will act like ice buildup on an walk in cooler evaporator coil. This will reduce airflow, which will make the compressor run harder and longer, increasing your electricity bill. To effectively remove heat, the condenser will require openings for cooling air intake and exhaust. Make sure the outdoor condenser coils are not blocked by boxes, or anything that will restrict airflow, such as high grass, or plastic shopping bags that are sucked on to the coils. |
